Tugu Pahlawan Monument

Tugu Pahlawan monument located in front of the East Java governor's office, which is at Jalan Pahlawan, Surabaya. Nail-shaped monument upside is as high as 40.50 meters was built on an area of 2.5 hectares, which is the former office of the Raad van Justite or the High Court building in the Dutch colonial era and called Kenpetai building at the time of Japanese occupation, where the building is used for Kenpetai prosecute, punish, and held Indonesian fighters. At the time the Battle of Surabaya broke out, the building was occupied by the youth of Surabaya and the center of the struggle. Finally, this building was destroyed by Allied artillery fire.


The first stone laying of Tugu Pahlawan pembangnan conducted by the First President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. Soekarno on November 10, 1951 and was also inaugurated by the President of the First Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno one year later on 10 November 1952 to commemorate the history of the struggle of the heroes in the battle of 10 November 1945 in Surabaya.

To support the Tugu Pahlawan heroes monument and the complete history of the facility, the Museum of the Struggle of Ten was established November 1945. Entering the Tugu Pahlawan monument area there are huge gate called the Gate Bentar. All around there are reliefs depicting the struggle of the Indonesian events began before independence until after independence, the statue of Soekarno-Hatta proclaimed, and statues of the struggle of the battle 10 November 1945.
In the museum there is a collection of weapons, both the Allied and the Japanese side that is used in the battle of 10 November 1945. There is also the Hall of Fame, group sculpture, a collection of photographs, historic collections of Bung Tomo, some settings are summarized significant events in the eight dioramas showing films dn static battle of 10 November 1945 are summarized in electronic dioramas. Inside the museum, visitors can also listen to speeches Bung Tomo fiery to raise people's morale in the face of the Allied ultimatum.
